House MD is the upcoming DS and PC release by Legacy Interactive, the developer of the popular Law & Order game series. Good news fans –House is a hilarious, fast-paced medical puzzler, packed with the same dark humor that fans know and love from the TV series, and definitely one game you won't want to miss.
Is it as politically incorrect and sarcastic as the series? You bet. Dr. House manages to insult every patient and staff member in the game, delivering lines like, "Awww, stop, I'm getting all sentimental, and I'm going to stab myself in the eye with this syringe just to make you shut up!" Then of course, there's the sexist comments like, "Ah, but aren't all women a mystery? Cuddy's just a mystery with really great taste in push-up bras."
I was lucky enough to have a chance to preview it before its release, and was blown away by the graphics. All of the major characters from the series House are in the game, looking incredibly real even as 2D depictions.
There are well over 100 different minigames, which have you doing everything from exams and diagnosis to performing biopsies and taking blood. The realism is uncapped. I have to admit, I was a little nervous taking blood for the first time, tapping the vein and lining up the needle. It's like being a part of the show.
As each new case comes in, you need to examine the patient, run tests by completing minigames, and question the patient to find out more information. Once you've gathered enough information, it's onto a word game as you make your diagnosis. Each case is quirky, like you'd expect it to be, and there's plenty of twists along the way.
