I read the news @ Vr-Zone.com & another story is nVIDIA hire the hacked ATI physics driver developer & they pay for hacking . Bad move by nvidia . I'm expecting another court case about both incidentsfallenzeraphine said:It seems nvidias new GTX200 drivers modify some files of 3Dmark vantage so the Driver can offload the Physics instructions to the GPU...i mean that sucks, its so low

I also first thought it was cheating. But with careful consideration, I think they are not. If they can use a FEATURE in the VGA to improve performance, then it is not cheating! What I call cheating is reducing image quality to gain more performance, or that sort of thing.fallenzeraphine said:It seems nvidias new GTX200 drivers modify some files of 3Dmark vantage so the Driver can offload the Physics instructions to the GPU...i mean that sucks, its so low

I don't think the end users will call it cheating...at least the ones with the green teamfallenzeraphine said:DUUUUUUUUUUH its cheating to modify the bloody files without asking the end user first....and the installer dont fix the files when u uninstall the drivers. so its cheating

They are not cheating. The games that support physics processing, show great performance increases. UT3 is one such game. There is already a patch available for UT3 to enable Physics in nVidia cards.henderson said:Are they using that FEATURE in other games as well (modifying the game files and download physics to VGA). Maybe it is useless, maybe it is not.henderson said:It's not pure cheating, but it's sort of cheating. Because you have very handful number of games that support physics processing. And If you put that feature in benchmarking purposes, those benchmark results are valid for games that support physics processing only. For other games this figure is useless.
