    Redhat Linux 9 is very old mate, u should use Fedora core latest build, RH Linux is obsolete and will not work on modern hardware because the kernel don't support most of the new chipsets and processors.

    Who ever recomended you that live in the past mate, RH Linux 9 is almost 7 years old and Redhat dont even make Redhat Linux Desktop any more, its now a part of the community project called Fedora Core, essentialy the evolution of Redhat Linux desktop OS. so u should try it, btw all linux distros essesncialy have the same fundamental architechture so what ever ur doing can be done on any linux distro, use other awesome distros like Linuxmint and PCLinuxOS
