This is a repost, but enjoyed reading it again. All that is said about a Sri Lankan is very true. We need not be ashamed. It is good to see the funny side of things in what we do. Only great people can laugh at their own behaviour. So let us have a good laugh at our own expense. BUT Pakis are worse. In one of the flights from Dubai, 2 Pakistanis carried a long rolled up carpet into the plane which was almost as long as the cabin, hitting the heads of the other passengers, just not caring for the protest of the cabin crew, & were shouting at the top of their voices from one end of the cabin to the other. This is very normal behaviour for them. Indians are still worse, I think the North Indians are the most uncivilized among the Asians. They have never heard the word hospitality & never learned good manners. On an official visit to Delhi, an officer was supposed to come to the airport to pick us 2 ladies. The flight landed at 2.00 a.m. He promptly told us that he came b'coz of 2 ladies, otherwise he will never come at such an inconvenient time. Do we Sri Lankans ever tell such rude things to our guests ? During a visit to a state university at lunch time for a official meeting, the Indian man suddenly stopped the meeting, turned his chair facing his back to me, pulled out his lunch of wadai & thosai & gobbled it up in 5 mints. Then he turned around again to continue the meeting, totally unconcerned about his guest. Do we Sri Lankans ever treat a foreign guest in this manner ? BUT Sri lankans who have migrated are gradually forgetting the use of plastic cups. They have paper instead. In Australia I asked for a plastic cup. The lady was highly embarrased , but gave one with reluctance. But the moment another Ausi visitor came & wanted to use the wash room, she rushed and hid the cup in the store room. She did not want Ausis to know that plastic cups are used in her house.
