well, currently in us market there are quad cores available for $200-$300 range and there are core 2 duo's available in $150-$300 range. Here I'm not talking about any extreme end processors like . The issue is how much these costs in SL? I think still quads are much higher priced than duo's (correct me if I'm wrong). So still in SL my opinion is going for core 2 duo is more beneficiary in SL.

I'm not asking just about the availability or price. I'm asking whether are you getting the benefits for the money you spent (and are spending on the electricity bill :D)

    that's what i am asking!

and that's the thing i was telling, due to unavailability or whatever SL prices of quads are high. So I won't buy a quad from SL market, and wasting such money is useless. So unless you can get one from other country for less price, purchasing one from local market will be a pain in the ass.

I also tried 2 buy a Core 2 Quad processor but @ that time it was abt 40K!
    So I bought a Core 2 Duo!
As my opinion I think u should wait a bit b4 buying one!
I think da prices r still high! But deffa it'll give u good performance!
I will also try 2 buy a Core 2 Quad or a higher processor in abt 2 years time!

Machan this is my opinon! I'm no expert in harware!
Pls see 4 da other memebers comments!

I am quite happy with my E2180 @ 2.66. It performs better than my friends E4600(Stock). As for the Quad, I compared a Q6600 and my E2180:P on my Intel G33FB. Well to be quite honest for day to day use there is simply no difference. One thing the my CPU couldn't do was write 3 full capacity DVDs + run a installation of a game(Carbon,MW etc) in the same time, well, it could do but the Q6600 was smooth as water. Also the Q6600 boosted about 12-16 FPS on Crysis on a 8800GTS G92.

Didnt want to try any 3D max, Premiere etc because obviously the Quad will win by a large margin(More cores,8x Cache)

I think it's better to buy a core2 duo (cost). I bought core 2 duo 2.6 6mb cache 2 weeks ago. Lowest price of core 2 quard is RS 28000 AS I know.
