HUNDREDS OF BIRDS FOUND DEAD IN ELAVANKULAM, PUTTALAM.
Shockingly, hundreds of dead birds have been discovered in Elavankulam by local paddy farmers. The bird deaths are being attributed to suspected poisoning. Some have already been eaten by predators including fishing cats, crocodiles, and birds of prey, and sadly there may be a knock-on effect on them too and further up the food chain.
DWC officers are probing the incident with locals and we urge anyone with information to come forward. Killing wildlife is a serious crime and the WNPS urges the authorities to take necessary legal action against those found guilty. We must put a stop to these inhumane crimes against nature and our wildlife.
