yep very complicated
so what to do for stop that thing?

I think machang checking phones should be done on very SOLID grounds.. as I know police cannot search any one's private property without a search warrant, to get that they need to have SOLID evidence or reasons for suspicion.. and you should be able to convince the COURT (this is as I know.. if there's any professional please correct if I'm wrong) to do this...

Phones are private property too right?? unless its matter of National Security!!!

It would be better if anybody can answer from the legal perspective of things (preferably an EK member who's an attorney)

No machang all your above examples are a matter of National Security in that case even to a suspect police can deny bail and as I know when it comes to National Security it can override many existing laws... That's fine!!!

This is for "PORN finding" its NOT a matter of life and death... and you might NOT like to keep those in YOUR phone BUT there are people still do keep them... what about them?

Lets take the above example... That persons wife is given birth abroad while husband in Sri Lanka for a long time let say maybe he works in SL and will not see his wife and kid for many years, so there is a very good chance that person might keep these sort of things as in his phone.. don't you think so??

For some people phone is NOT such a private thing.. BUT for some it is and they keep everything there..when we talk about phones we are NOT only talking about phones there are PDA's and those sort of things as well!!

So how to entertain both parties???

Agree with those aspects and yes it is a bit complicated thing...

But this porn threat is also becoming a national 'threat', eventhough it is not an national 'security' issue..

So machang I don't think that they have got any alternative way to stop it... :)

As I said earlier, the very 1st thing they should do is to ban those SL pron sites. But let's see... maybe in the future. :)

So to protect the nation's women from those types of unknown pornographic activities, they should do something machang.

Have u seen SL porn stuff recently...?? Which are being recorded without the consent of the woman. Many hidden cam clips are recorded by mobiles.

Are you ok?

I also think that this is not a good rule. It definitely encroaches on people's privacy. As long as a person does not do any harms to others, his privacy should be left untouched. But if he/she is found guilty of any related matters, then that is the point at which his privacy should be deemed to exist no longer.

First we may feel this is a good idea. But there are loopholes in every law. What about someone sending a pornographic photo to an innocent person's mobile and informing the police at the same time to get that person arrested. Even police can misuse this law.

So one's privacy should not be touched as long as he/she is not a problem to the society. I do not think any of you would like anyone to meddle with your private affairs. It is the nature of people. If this law is implemented to the letter, most of the culprits would be school children. I think we should allow them to spend their jolliest period of life without any threats. The final responsibility rests with the adults that they have to make sure children do not become victims. Actually I like BIG people being arrested for these types of crimes.

Of course machang Government MUST take action against this there's NO 2 words about that....

THIS PORN ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED!!! I'm just talking about an after effect of the law that's all!!!

Banning PORN site is an effective solution because that has been done by many countries through their main Gateways, I think in countries like Saudi you cannot view porn online.... they are using this image and text recognition software that go through all web sites that passes through the main gateway... it seems Saudi Government demanded 99% accuracy rate from the solution (I know this because I had few friends working on the project)

And here in Malaysia this was HUGE issue especially in 2004/2005 period.. people record thier wives and girl friends and when they break off they use to black mail them sending these clips.. so in the beginning of 2006 government here made it compulsory to register all mobile numbers with valid particulars of the owner...

Well... im NOT sure how effective was it.. BUT those kind of threats and other things dropped quite sharply I think!!!
