I did both PTE and IELTS. My take on those exams are, PTE is difficult, however, with sheer hard work you can score well.</span></p><p> <span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">I must stress that scoring above 7 in IELTS and PTE takes time as you have to sharpen your skills and most importantly you’ll have to boost your confidence. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><u>So how would you score well in IELTS? </u></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong>Come to a position where you are confident about yourself. </strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">There’s no easy method. Do the hard way. Listen to English whenever you can. I will help you with what to listen. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">First, commit to achieving your goal friends. Think about the work you do. Is that work promising as well compared to learning English? Of course not. Your commitment to learning will bring you unlimited opportunities. So that’s a win-win situation. Nuffff..</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong>Listen to podcasts.</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Free up your phone a bit and listen to various podcasts inside the bus, train (On the train if you are a frequent traveller of Sri Lankan crowded trains),when in home etc.. . </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">C’mon listen at least 1 hour. If you say “I don’t have much time, get the fuck out here... </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">What I’m listening are,</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u>Luke’s English podcasts</u></strong>. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">You can download his app too. Extremely beneficial (I replaced the word “very” as it is a common word. In speaking and writing, always try to utilize academic words in a suitable manner). </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u>The Tim Ferriss show</u></strong>. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u>TED talks daily </u></strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u></u></strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u>Ajahn Amaro podcast by amaravati</u></strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"><strong><u>Buddhist Society of Western Australia that include Ajahn Brahm’s great sermons.</u></strong></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Remember; always try to do <u><strong>active listening</strong></u>. Pause and try to repeat what they say after a conclusion of a sentence. It is an expected skill in PTE. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">When you learn sentences rather than words, you’ll improve your English faster. This continuous listening can rewire your brain to absorb things quickly, thus you can easily develop the speaking skills simultaneously.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Even if you don’t understand a thing, continue your listening. Make it a habit. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">To improve writing, you will have to practice <strong><u>academic writing</u></strong> (in General Module too). Mere using of some thundering words does not create lush writings. Improve your grammar, specifically tenses. Application of perfect tenses, future tenses.... </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Learn new adjectives, verbs and replace exhausted words with academic wordsin the English language. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Ex- Very good- Superb</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Hungry- ravenous </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Help – assist </span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Inactive – benign</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">Very important – Crucial/ Vital etc...</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 15px">I will post a second thread as this will become a tedious thing.
