Illegal File-sharing Network eDonkey Disabled

The second largest file-sharing network on the internet has been severely disabled in a significant coup for the music industry's fight against piracy. Seven servers on the notorious eDonkey network, on which millions of users illegally share music and other files, were this week shut down following orders by German courts, the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) said. The closure would knock out about third of eDonkey's 4 million users and cause "a major disruption" to one of the world's "top three file-sharing networks" the IFPI said in a statement. Similar injunctions have been issued against eDonkey-linked servers in France and the Netherlands.

Thats not possibe. coz we use our own hard drive spaces for that. only thing they cab do is to shut down the sites. but still there are blogs and forums.

centralized trakers oone nathi wunaama torrents walata awulak nathi wei.

I've heard that the bittorrent protocol is being modified to eliminate the need of centralized trackers.

The problem with eDonkey was that it was closely associated with porn, most of the eDonkey servers were a haven for porn making it useless for downloading other files. Having such a specified (dedicated) server network is a weakness of a p2p system.
I really hope bittorrent will eliminate the need for trackers, torrents will be rendered useless if the tracker network shuts down. Trackerless torrents will be a real pain in the a** for those trying to shutdown p2p networks
