Installing prolink modem into VISTA

I'm havin some problems with my laptop... I tried to install my prolink modem into it but the driver was made for windows XP I run windows VISTA in the laptop..i called the company(prolink) they said that i have to do a system restore and install the prolink vista driver.But the system restore point is made after installing the modem cant go back.. what should i do??? can't even format the laptop I dont have the home premium DVD of windows VISTA if i format i will loose it... what should i do please guys help me out ..my modem is prolink h9601 laptop is compaq presario v6000​

Why don't u have Recovery DVD's of the laptop? if u dont have make them.
does ur modem has a ethernet port?
i have istalled my modem in to my desktop (XP)
when i need to surf internet with lap i just connect the network cable to lap.
it's that simple.

so i connect my modem to my desktop, n network laptop and desktop its gna solve da prob???

ya frm which cable u have connected to the desktop? USB or Network?

i used network
whn i want to connect to internet frm my laptop i removed the network cable frm PC and connect it to laptop
