The rules-based system created after second world war established America as a superpower and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 made America pretty much the only superpower with unrivalled military and economic power.Then came China`s economic “miracle” (more like a centrally planned set of actions rather than a miracle). 2010 – the year China surpassed Japan to become the 2nd largest economy by GDP. When measured by PPP (purchasing power parity) China actually became the largest economy in the world 10 years ago (2016).Obviously, the U.S.A and the MAGA camp knows that China is getting stronger by the day. They know that China is the number one producer and consumer of renewable energy already. China's reliance on fossil fuel is projected to be negligible by around 2060!With rapid advancements in A.I and robotics, energy is the key for any country`s survival. They are trying to delay China`s progress as much as possible.I am no expert, but for me, it feels like the last "hurrah" for America.
