This study was completed in 2024. It was with a cohort of 20,000 adults who followed an 8-hour time-restricted eating schedule, a type of intermittent fasting, It was found that had a 91% higher risk of death from cardiovascular disease. Compared with a standard schedule of eating across 12-16 hours per day, limiting food intake to less than 8 hours per day was not associated with living longer. It was also found that among people with existing cardiovascular disease, an eating duration of no less than 8 but less than 10 hours per day was also associated with a 66% higher risk of death from heart disease or stroke. An eating duration of more than 16 hours per day was associated with a lower risk of cancer mortality among people with cancer. PS: Intermittent fasting can reduce weight for those with obesity. I am of constant weight for the last 30 years. I eat mainly rice for both lunch and dinner, usually have a late dinner past 10 pm, but my breakfast is only one slice of bread with whatever leftovers. Also I don't take any sugar at all (so is my 24+ year old son who was raised sugar free) and also nothing in between the main meals. No biscuits, buns or anything. Only tea or coffee with milk but no sugar. Keep your mouth shut, it works more than running 5000 steps. Every time we go on a vacation I gain about 4 kgs (mainly because of the hotel breakfast) but lose it on return within 5 to 6 weeks. If I take a break over weekends at a hotel the staff always ask why I don't eat anything for breakfast with a massive spread available. But I stick to my one slice of bread plus (or just one plain hopper) eat some fresh fruits, and curd.
