Yep, out of town!

Too bad hey. SLT are expanding their ADSL network like crazy. I wonder it will do harm than any good. It will get slower and slower for the existing users :(:(:(

I don't think so you can get a accurate reading these days though, because lines are slow than usual!!!

Even though you have your own cable, SLT does not haev enough resources to give full bandwidth to everyone. But this is not necessarily lack of resources. Say there are 100 users who have 2M lines. Ideally, they should reserve 200M bandwidth in their system. But it's not the case. The total allocated bandwidth could be only about 100M, or even less, because not everyone uses it always. On SLT's end, allocating resources which will be hardly utilized fully will be a waste of money. But when more than 50 users use internet at the same time, the speeds will dip.

There's another bad news for 2M line users in an area. Say there are 100 512k users and 25 2M users. Ideally, they should have 100M total bandwidth. Let's say that they have only allocated 25M for that area. So when everyone is using internet at the same time (i.e. 125 users), each user, regardless of whether he has a 512k connection or 2M connection, will get only 25M/125=0.2M or ~200k speed. For a 512k user, this is a 60% drop, but for a 2M user, this is a 90% drop. They don't give priority for people who pay more. Unfair, but this is the truth.
