Is age a problem to love?

one of my best freidns has a girl freidn
he is madly in love with her..
but she is 5 months older than him
just 5 months..
these 2 has agreed to say to thier parents about there relationship.
when the boy said to his parents....
they said..

danne nadda issarahata ubata prashna weno
eya ubata wada bala num eyata uba gana podi hari respect ekak tiyano..

when the girl said to her parents..
her mother has been angry about the boys age and said i will talk with the father and tell y the decision
the decision is still pending..

but all iwanna know is

in sri lanka yes it is a problem,
the girl is born and bred around sri lankan culture,so what boys father is saying has a little bit of truth.Ive been in a relation ship with same aged girl and (only 14 days of different)
a girl who is 3 yrs younger than me.From what i ve learned same aged relationships wont work very well.Male ego always require respect from the female partner.But from same aged girl ,you cant expect it as you gets from a younger one.so i think they should think twice.
