Well if its a choice of Internet Explorer, you can go for IE8...

It wont be slower than IE7 obviously. However all the IE's are pretty slower.

But google chrome is better in my perception. Its much faster and user friendly. Plus it has many integrated features that IE has never had.

Firefox is not that good, but its better that IE in some ways, for example, it has the ability to run add-ons, where you can get in new stuff and features to your web browser without any problem. But its not the best....
