Its like this bro. Even in debate section you cant insult others. And elakiri rules apply there too.
You cant just say i hate Muslims or i hate Buddhists or what ever. You should have a point. Its not a place to fight. Its a place to debate with some acceptable points.

As i think bro, if someone don't wanna think out of the box or wanna stick to what their religion says then that special debate section is not for them.
They have all the elakiri and all other sections. And those debate threads not even coming to the homepage so no problem at all.
I am just giving a place to free thinkers and people who wanna find the truth and discuss something scientifically without social bounds.
Anyway let me know more ideas.

well wat ur saying is true. but my point is this. i have talked to sum members who are not anymore active in EK but were active b 4. all these guys say there too much of hatred there in da group. ppl dont respect each other. no human values there. its lyk i had one of my friends join EK and two days later he says its a dirty place. all ppl are scolding each other. i was lyk WTF.

well one suggestion dat i wud giv to an admin of a community that is this big is to make moderators. have sum moderators. its true dat u cant alone handle 175000 members and 2 million posts but with a few help u can ryt?? we have member all around the world who come online almost at all da different times of da day. so lyk have sum members lyk dat who come online at different times and then giv them sum rights and tell them ok. u r responsible nw. sumthing goes wrong u get ur ass kicked. its lyk having prefects in skool. and of course if they go out of hand as an administrator u hav all the rights to take them off ne.

1. If you can read my other posts in this thread i have mentioned lot of info about upcoming plans about preventing fights, spam, abuse, fake IDs etc.. So i am not going to repeat them here again.

2. About moderators well i like to tell some untold story. In any popular forum the extremely key factor about the popularity is the administration and moderation. If you miss 1 step members will lose the faith. If your support staff did something wrong still you will make some group of people disappointed.
As you all know before we start elakiri their were some popular forums, some are over 8 years old. Some are like 6, 4 years old etc.. So what happened to them?
They all had big management and staff. I know some forum had something like 25,000 members and around 400,000 posts. Those days it was the largest forum for srilanka. So what went wrong?

If you select moderators you should think who to give. There are tons of members who helped elakiri from start so if i gave 1 then others will be disappointed. Those are our key members if i disappoint them that will be a huge blow. I can't give mod posts to 500 people.

Secondly most of the moderators are bias towards their friends or thier point of view. So they make other members disappoint and leave the community. You will not even notice that coz you dont even know what happened.

Most don't have skills to take a proper decision. They are bound by religion, race, society or some social connections. So taking wrong decisions will be really harmful for the community.

Most of the people will stop posting or supporting the community as they get the mod post. They will create some big ego and try to rule others. That will surely make normal members disappointed and leave the site.

So i am thinking about a new way to mod the forum. Giving the better ranks to Certified Members and higher rank for quality of posting. And site wide moderation system which any certified member can use. So there will be no moderators but members helping the community. So thats about spam and abuse.

But about fights i am trying my self to solve them or give some board who understand the concept to solve those issues. Personally i have seen lot of members reporting me and talking with me about certain issues and going wild or totally in wrong path when they take decisions about problems. I don't like the thinking pattern of some key members here. Its no problem but its too ordinary. we need something special here. You should be able to create a point and make others feel you and your decision. You should be able not to insult others but make them understand your logic. Then most of the fights can be solved without making none of the parties disappointed. That's really essential coz we need all of them as elakiri members in the future too.

About my self i never really engaged with elakiri forum after mid 2007. I was so busy and i was not really with the members too.
Now I have really low communication level with elakiri family comparing to 2006/7.
Due to that I have lost the mighty grip i had back in 2006 and 2007. So i dont like the way it went after mid 2007 and whole year 2008. I don't wanna be an Admin here but a person who engage in the forum.
When there will be very less spam and fights it will be a very nice place to talk about all other interesting subjects. So lets see how we can resolve all these issues and make it a nice place agian

Popularity is NOT going down.

But the quality IS going down.

But I personally really don't care about it. Because from my limited experience of 2.5 yrs in here, I know that it's like a cycle. Quality goes up - and when it comes to the peak, it goes down back again.

And there are waves of members. When old members gets tired,
(People do get new jobs, new exams to study, new relationships etc. which might hold them back from posting.) new members post a lot. But until sometime they don't get the real meaning of posting.

After a bit of experience they get the flavour and the quality goes up again. After a while they get tired again. And the next wave of members start to post.
So simply it's just a cycle.
Eventually will get better.

About the religious threads... I don't mind having discussions about religions without the involvement of uguduwa, Xmen and Siraj. (Personally I consider them as fundamentalists who don't know their own religion clearly and tries to just bark) - Nothing personal though lmao eventhough uguduwa tries to be personal all the time (Sorry, I had to name directly. Coz I'm not that person who walks around the bush without peeing onto it.)

I know you are talking about the Anti-Muslim posts bro. And there are two sides of it.
So can't ban them since we should have some way to talk the truth and understand it scientifically.
To my opinion we should discuss about any religion and develop it. There is nothing like we should believe anything since its in the religion.
At the same time we should try not to insult some party based on our new ideas.

Anyway i am planning to end this very soon. It'll be a separate place if you want to think out of the box. And think logically.
