  • Do we need Valentine day celebrations?

    • There is a war going on, and we should suppoprt our heros. Expending un-necesarily will always have their ill effects on war against terror
    • Why only show your love for one day? Why cannot yiu use the day when you first met? Why it has to be done in a mass scale on Feb 14th?
    • Is it culturally acceptable for unmarried couple to go to valentine parties late night?
    • Why fall to the "Valentine mafia" - valentines day is marketed by few shrewd businedd men in Sirasa and by people like Upul Shantha Sannasgala. Why fall to the trap and make them richer?

Spending for a bunch or roses or for a ring won't affect the war machang...
Besides, people need to enjoy life even in midst of the war. Life is all about enjoying and living the present day :)

Ya we have to show our love everyday. And yes we all have to celebrate the day we met each other. But yes we need to celebrate it as a full community as well coz people meet on different days.

So again.. Life is all about living. :D and loving each other.

Culture has been made by people. So people can change the culture.
I can't see any harm in unmarried people going to late night parties.. :)
Parties are parties.. They are not going to have sex ;)

haha very true point machang.. :D
Silly buggers have made valentines day into a good business day which is bad.
But still I think by buying a bunch of roses or by buying a small ring or something will not make those buggers richer.

I personally like the concept behind the day. But don't like the way it has turned out nowadays. It's too commercialised... like christmas..

In between lots of pros and cons, my conclusion is, yes! we need valentine's day! :D

True, that's why I did have a option of having it low key. But when a people spend thousands and ten thousands for that evening, then it is a problem

Sure? When these parties go on they provide romms for coples to have sex and then charge for it also. If you happened to be attached to healt sector, you'll know the burden of unwanted pregnancies and abortions. Then most of these people are in their teens and these incidents may affact them in the wrong way in their later life.
