Through his Anti-war Front, Mr Vasudeva Nanayakkara advocates negotiations, but throughout his political career of some 40 years he has only demonstrated the exact opposite. How many times did he split from his own political party and numerous pacts and alliances he entered into? His Trotskyite political movement regularly splits like an amoeba and never grows beyond a certain size. How can he advocate negotiations with the terrorists when he cannot negotiate with his fellow Trotskyites and work for a common agenda? He cannot even negotiate and agree with his comrades on trivial matters of his political doctrine, but he advocates others how to solve a national problem!
Vasu is a political reject and he should look into his own performance before advising others. He has never won an election without hanging onto someone’s tail or "sari pota". In 1970, it was Mrs B’s sari pota that gave him a place in parliament through his former political party LSSP. In 1994, it was President CBK’s sari pota that made him an MP again. When he contested without hanging onto a sari pota he was humiliatingly defeated in all major elections. In 1982, he became the honourable last in the Presidential race.
Earlier this year he tried President MR’s "Satakaya" in an abortive attempt to become the Mayor of Colombo. It is the tail of the terrorist Tiger now he is trying to hang onto to gain some mileage for himself. This reminds us that proverbial Koti Waligaya (Tiger tail) which he will never be able to let go.
