Japan on Tuesday urged the Sri Lankan Government to implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) report but was non committal on its stand on the US resolution against the country.
"We hope that the Sri Lankan government will implement the recommendations in this report," Japanese Ambassador Nobuhito Hobo, Ambassador of Japan told Times Online on the sidelines of an agreement ceremony in Colombo to provide grant aid for the rehabilitation of the Weliwewa Tank in Mihintale Divisional Secretary Division, Anuradhapura District under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects scheme (GGP).
But he declined to comment, when asked, what Japan’s stand is on the US resolution.
Mr Hobo added that Japan has always supported the peace process and that during the peace discussions (with the LTTE) stressed the consolidation of peace.
"It is our policy to continue to support Sri Lanka. It's a real opportunity to build the nation in a more conducive environment (peace) than before (during conflict),” he added further.

Japan is currently not on the UNHRC & cannot vote for the resolution.
