In an exhibition Twenty20 cricket match played concurrently to the Hong Kong Cricket 6s, Woodworm All Stars recorded a thumping 3-wicket win against Rest of the World XI in a high scoring game at Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong today (28).
The Woodworm All Stars, led by veteran Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya, made to chase 369, reached 327 for the loss of seven wickets with a delivery to spare.
In a ground relatively undersized than the standard measurements, Rest of the World XI, captained by Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq chose to bat first and clobbered 368 for six.
Darren Stevens slammed 105 runs off 35 balls inclusive of eleven sixes and eight boundaries.
Calum Macleod scored an unbeaten 60 off 20 balls while Dinesh Karthik hit 52 off just 15 balls.
Pakistani pair Abdul Razzaq and Umar Akmal made 44 and 41 respectively off 17 and 13 deliveries.
In reply Woodworm All Stars lost opener Herschelle Gibbs but ferocious pair Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi got together to form 108 runs for the second wicket by stroking quick half centuries.
Jayasurya scored 83 off 23 balls with five fours and ten sixes while Afridi reached 63 in 23 balls inclusive of eight fours and four sixes.
But it was Lou Vincent who steered the Woodworm All Stars with an unbeaten 1221 of just 33 deliveries.
Vincent also hit 12 fours and 11 sixes.
