JVP ready to support Fonseka at a Presidential poll
Janath Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) parliamentarian K.D. Lalkantha today said that the JVP would be willing to extend support to Chief of Defense Staff General Sarath Fonseka if the General decides to put himself forward as a common candidate for the next presidential election.
A similar offer had also been made yesterday to the Chief of Defense Staff Sarath Fonseka by the new Sihala Urumaya party. (KE)

J V P , just accepting General as common candidate will not serve any purpose. Get together with all others and launch a campaign which will help you all to beat all odds. Need of this country right now is eradicating wide spread corruptions.General can do this , as he did it for Army. Get the support of all. Good Luck !

Sarath Fonseka if he is willing to be the common candidate it is for what purpose.? JVP as a bankarupt party may cling on to any one with few votes in hand. Be careful as what happened in the past for all leaders who worked with JVP. Madam Chandirka had to suffer a defeat in her govt. President President had to look for the support of dissident UNP'rs for his survival. Sarath even if you come do not expect the support of JVP because you will be in real troble.

Advice to General Fonseka, Yes the idea is not a bad one if the you can implement the following. Wipe out all couurupt members from all the parties that would like to join force prior to anything. No couroupt members with hide interst would be alow to do politic in Sri Lanka afterward. If not stay where you are with the respect of the SRI LANKA NATION.

The general is not at all a popular character among the masses, let alone the armed forces, . This will be political suicide if he enters the race to defeat MR. KaruJ or Ranil for that matter are far better options, even if they may lose. The government is successfully giving the people the message that the war was won thanks to the government, not the forces (not true but Sri Lankan people are very easy to fool).

For heaven's sake, if Gen. Fonseka was destined to be a politician he would have already been one by now. He is a good man, but in my opinion I think he is a fearless 'Warrior'. Due credit has to be given to HE MR for selecting the right person to do the job. None of the other Presidents had the courage & the backbone to do what HE has done for our country. Corruption breeds corruption. So is the corrupt goverments. All governments since the independence were corrupt and the present government is not an exception. I believe the GENERAL can clean-up the mess created by our political leaders and their corrupt fathers,mothers, uncles, brothers and sisters. It is a massive change.I do not doubt about the capabilities of General Fonseka. Yet we need to think about this option carefully.
