[QUOTE="saraprobe, post: 6491875, member: 13914"] JVP Leader Somawansa Amerasinghe said the party at the next general election would contest separately by forming an alliance headed by it. He said the JVP would not contest under the Swan symbol at the general election as there should be a multi party democracy in the country. “The UNP has already formed an alliance, the UNF. The JVP will form an alliance headed by it to contest the election separately. The barricades will be shifted to another point,” he noted. Referring to campaigning on a common platform with parties with divergent views, he told The Sunday Leader that their struggles was for democracy, provide relief to the people in IDP camps and to hold the first free and fair election after years. “These are our common agreements, beyond that we will have our diverse ideologies.” He also said the ethnic issue will be resolved through a solution that would give people more than a Tamil Eelam based on democracy and equality. Explaining the comment on giving a solution that would be more than a Tamil Eelam, Amerasinghe said that a solution based on equality, equal opportunity and democracy would be more beneficial to the Tamil speaking people than a Tamil Eelam. “In a Tamil Eelam people will experience caste systems and all other differences among people. In our system there will be no other differences like that. It will be one country where people have the freedom to live where ever they want,” he said.
