Karuna is a former colonol of the LTTE who decided to switch sides to protect his own interests. Karuna awarded an MP seat by Mahinda from quota pool to congratulate Karuna for give out secrets of LTTE and its strong holds, the main reason how the Sri Lankan state terrorism has defeated LTTE in the first place.

Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP)leader and national list MP , Vinayagamurthy Muraleetharan alias “Colonel Karuna” is reportedly feeling humiliated by some remarks made by Army commander Lt. Gen Sarath Fonseka to the media.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka had gone on record saying it was ‘shameful’ for anyone to try connect Karuna Amman leaving the LTTE with the recent success of the Army on the battlefield against the LTTE.

However, Karuna would not be getting much sympathy from Tamils for his humiliation.

When he decided to pair up with the devils, he should have remembered that he has some validity to exist within the Sinhalese chauvinists government until the LTTE exist. Now the one and only reason to be friendly with Karuna Amman is gone, Sri Lankan government sees Karuna's name on their payroll quite unnecessary.

Nevertheless, the Karuna group still could be used to deploy wide range of war crimes on fled Tamils IDPs. Karuna group, the infamous paramilitary group is used by the Sri Lankan government to deploy harassment to Tamils in the detention centers now, recruiting child soldiers, kidnapping Tamils for ransom and abducting youth for torture & rape.

Karuna group also have brought mayhem to Tamils in the post-war regions of Trincomalee and Baticola, abducting, raping and kidnapping of Tamils.
