Kaspersky Internet Protection

(1)I am in UAE, if a friend purchases KASPERSKY Internet Protection 2011 in Sri Lanka, and gives me the activation/cd-key which is inside the pack, can I upgrade from Kaspersky 2009 which is on my lap top?

(2) If he purchases 2010 version in Sri Lanka is it too old?
