Troops of the 57 Division also launched two separate assaults on the earth bund, north of Puthumurippukulam and Therumurikandi. The forward units of the Task Force 1 and 57 Division deployed in the Adampan and Puthumurippukulam areas has come under massive LTTE counter attack since Sunday.  “Troops have successfully withstood the terrorist onslaught and are now consolidating their positions,” the Defence Ministry saidIt said several soldiers were killed and several suffered injuries.The Army 57 Division in the Therumurikandi area captured a 1.2 kilometre stretch of the earth bund that runs along the A-9 road.An army official said the fighting in the West of Paranthan, West and South of Kilinochchi and north of Kumulumunai in Mullaitivu had injured 80 LTTE cadres and 70 soldiers.However, the TamilNet quoted the LTTE as saying that 43 soldiers were killed and more than 70 wounded.
