He said it is unfortunate that the much needed independent police  commission, election commission and the judicial services were never set  up though laws were introduced to provide provisions for it. Mr. Wijewardene also paid a glowing tribute to late Prime Minister  Senanayake  who was a political leader like no other. He said the late  PM was a champion of human rights.
