426 CTB buses take party crowd for UPFA Matara Rally – no buses for public
As many as 426 buses, a huge fleet, were used to transport UPFA supporters for the election rally at Matara on the 4th Oct. attended by President Mahinda Rajapase. Lanka e news was able to collect all information of the route Nos. areas and Depots of these buses which transported the massive crowd.
It is significant to note that buses belonging to the Depots: Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Valaichennai, Pothuvil, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Bnadarawela, Bibile, Matale were all used to transport crowds for this rally.
Five Buses Nos. NA 4768, 4571, 4770, 3788 and 4774 of the Batticaloa depot; 2 Buses Nos. 3282 and 4777 of the Kalmuniai depot; were used to transport crowds from Weligama, Kamburupitiya electorates. Potuvil Depot buses Nos.4728 and 5076 were used exclusively to transport people from Kamburupitiya, of which Dallas Alahaperuma is the Organizer.
Due to the Satyagaraha staged by unemployed graduates, three buses Nos. NA 1232, 1145 of Katubedda Depot and bus No.NA 2552 of Watttegama bus Depot, were blocked.
According to information received, about 150 of the buses used for the UPFA Rally were from Depots outside the Southern District.
