Arrived in France, CDG Airport on the 11th June around 7.30 AM . Collected the pre-booked rental car by 8.20 and drove to Lake Annecy by about 4PM. It;s a long drive about six hours, about 650kms and hence needs a lunch break somewhere. So made an exit to a small township of Beaune had lunch and stayed for about an hour. Have visited France several times earlier but missed out on the French Alps, even though we have covered the Swiss Alps which is next door. Lake Annecy is only just a couple of kms from the Swiss border. Lake Annecy is one of the most picturesque cities in France. The Alps range spans across many countries, France, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia. There are many unique places you could visit across these countries. Here are some photos of Lake Annecy and the small township. It's quite crowded and accommodation is expensive. The day we went it was quite hot at 37 deg C. There's very popular Ice Cream shop there, I think it was called "The Galciers des Alpes". There were about 100 people in the queue to buy ice-cream, so I tried the next shop, no queue and tasted good to me. The drove into Slovenia and just now we are about to fly into LHR from Zagreb. At the airport lounge at this moment. This is the halfway mark of the tour. After another three days in London we fly into Iceland for 11 days, then flyback to the UK, take the Eurail to France and home. We spent a few days in Iceland before but this time hope to complete the full circuit. Need to travel before the summer holidays in Europe, otherwise the costs will be double. I will post a few details and photos when possible.
