Gampaha  district UNP MP Ruwan Wijewardene, who topped the district’s  preferential votes’ list at the general elections, told a news  conference that the government is not in a position even to present the  annual budget as a result.    “The government has to spend a lot of money in debt servicing.  They  have obtained loans from the HSBC. There are a lot of expenses involved  in the hedging deal. Therefore, we feel that the country is driven  towards an economic crisis.
