Have you looked at why they dont accept most private campuses ?~v3n0m~ said:machan, in SL the university grant commision doesnt accept most of private campuses.. SLIIT is now a recognized campus.
That talented kid should've done local A/Ls if he wanted to get in to a local uni. If he did London A/Ls then he should probably go to a London Uni (which he probably will anyway).~v3n0m~ said:A/L is the hard way. but that hard doesnt means its the best.. there could be tallented students doing London A/L instead of the lankan one.. they should have the right to earn a degree!!!!!!!
SL unis are totally govt funded and they cannot compete with private sector when it comes to salaries. Speak reality here.~v3n0m~ said:if what you have told is a problem to SL unis, they should work to manage their quality and staff..
err ? what ? Not clear what you're trying to say there.~v3n0m~ said:even i'm in a private university related institute and we are being taught by colombo uni staff.. not like what you told. we do not have a staff to go to colomob university and teach them..
~v3n0m~ said:what really matters is to control the quality of the degree. If there is a popular university offering a demanded degree, that means the degree is a good quality one which will give the student a good discipline..
how do we get to know if a person from USA with a degree is good or bad? how do we know about russian medical degrees? thats the sense people should have, considering the country, campus and education system, one should be able to understand whether it is a standard quality and recognized degree or not..
Nope. This is the real problem with private unis. Since such places gives degrees for money without having any kind of standards, people pay and get the degree without having any real knowledge about the subject and apply for jobs.~v3n0m~ said:and if there are institutes offering unrecognized, low quality degrees, they will definitely go down..

Such places doesnt go down as people with money keeps on paying for such degrees.
because they need to maintain the quality of the degree? weell, then they are doing that already?kosandpol said:Have you looked at why they dont accept most private campuses ?

What you're talking about is trying to put a square peg in to a round hole.
The local unis consider the local A/Ls to be the qualification exam. Not passing that means automatically that kid is not suitable to go in there. What's so hard to figure out in that ?
thats an issue with the SL gov and education system. stopping a student earning a degree from a foreign university doesnt help a local lecturer to have a higher salary..kosandpol said:SL unis are totally govt funded and they cannot compete with private sector when it comes to salaries. You think that PVT medical institutes want to improve the quality of doctors? I don't think so...........
