Specially setting up engineering faculties shouldn't be a problem as you can be holding any engineering degree and work here as long as the company hiring you feels that you are competant enough. Medicine is different as you need a government licence to practice at any level.For engineering Unis what will only change is that there will be cheaper alternatives to going abroad. Ofcourse the biggest problem is that as private unis pay better so good lecturers will seek employment in them So publicly owned ones will degrade in quality and can't compete. For that the best is to have a qouta of scholarships that gain for entrance directly from their ranks in ALs. So if at a point in time a private uni overtakes the curently the best engineering faculty at Moratuwa the Best students at ALs can choose to attend them free of charge. ofcaourse the UGC or some other body will need to monitor the quality of a unis so the lowest ranked unis aren't producing imcompetant engineers..And for those who think there will be "3wheeler drivers having engineering degrees" we can say that, Either the 3Wheeler driver is a very smart guy, or getting an engineering degree isn't as hard as it hyped it to be.</blockquote>
