There are a few possible causes for your laptop's Wi-Fi issue when it's connected to mains power. Here are some potential reasons:

    1. Power management settings: Some laptops have power management settings that adjust the performance of various components, including the Wi-Fi adapter, when the laptop is running on battery or connected to mains power. It's possible that the power management settings are causing the Wi-Fi adapter to operate at a lower power or enter a power-saving mode when the laptop is plugged in, leading to connectivity issues. Check your power management settings and ensure they are not impacting the Wi-Fi adapter.
    2. Interference from power source: Certain electrical devices or power sources can generate electromagnetic interference that affects Wi-Fi signals. When your laptop is connected to mains power, it might be closer to the source of interference, resulting in degraded Wi-Fi performance. Try moving your laptop away from other electronic devices or power sources to see if it improves the Wi-Fi connection.
    3. Grounding issues: Improper grounding can cause electrical interference that affects Wi-Fi signals. When your laptop is connected to mains power, it becomes more susceptible to such interference. Ensure that your laptop and the power outlet you're using are properly grounded. If possible, try connecting your laptop to a different power outlet to see if it makes a difference.
    4. Power adapter issues: In some cases, a faulty power adapter or charging cable can introduce electrical interference that affects Wi-Fi performance. Try using a different power adapter or cable to charge your laptop and see if the Wi-Fi issue persists.
    5. BIOS/Driver issues: Outdated or incompatible BIOS firmware or Wi-Fi drivers can also cause connectivity problems when the laptop is connected to mains power. Make sure that your laptop's BIOS firmware and Wi-Fi drivers are up to date by checking the manufacturer's website for the latest versions.
