Five jobs of the future
Some jobs are growing fast – in percentage terms, demand for roles driven by technological advancements such as artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly increasing. These jobs include big data specialists, fintech engineers and AI and machine learning specialists.But what about absolute numbers? Combining estimates from surveyed companies with International Labour Organization employment data, the report lists the 15 professions that will see the largest net growth and decline.
The largest growing jobs are dominated by roles core to many economies.
Farmworkers top the list. Green transition trends, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to the climate crisis, will drive growth that will create 34 million additional jobs by 2030, adding to the 200 million farmworkers today. Widening digital access and the rising cost of living are also contributing to the profession’s growth.
Delivery drivers, software developers, building construction workers and shop salespersons complete the top five.
Food processing workers also feature among the largest growing jobs, while care jobs – including nursing professionals, social workers and counselling professionals – are projected to grow significantly over the next five years. This can be explained by demographic trends, especially ageing working-age populations, the report says.

2030 වන විට වේගයෙන්ම වර්ධනය වන කුසලතා අතරට සංජානන කුසලතා සහ සහයෝගීතාවය වැනි මානව කුසලතා සමඟ තාක්ෂණික කුසලතා ඇතුළත් වෙන අතර වර්ධනය වන කුසලතා හිඩැස් පියවීම සඳහා රාජ්ය, පෞද්ගලික සහ අධ්යාපන අංශවල සාමූහික ක්රියාමාර්ග හදිසි අවශ්යතාවයක්ව ඇති බවත් එම වාර්තාවේ සඳහන්.
2030 වන විට රැකියා කඩාකප්පල් වීම රැකියා වලින් 22%කට සමාන වන බවත්, නව භූමිකාවන් මිලියන 170ක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමට සහ මිලියන 92ක් අවතැන් වීමට නියමිත බවත්, එහි ප්රතිඵලයක් ලෙස රැකියා මිලියන 78ක ශුද්ධ වැඩිවීමක් සිදුවනු ඇති බවත් එම වාර්තාවේ සඳහන්.
ගොවිපල සේවකයින්, රියදුරන් සහ ඉදිකිරීම් සේවකයින් ඇතුළු පෙරටුගාමී භූමිකාවන් 2030 වන විට නිරපේක්ෂ වශයෙන් විශාලතම රැකියා වර්ධනයක් පෙන්නුම් කරන අතර එම වාර්තාව පහතින්.
