Killing a journalist is international crime because whole world keep their attention about it... I don't think gov is stupid enough to do something like that at this time, specially when gov desperately need to clear their name from LTTE & their NGOs accusations of killing Tamil civilians, aid workers etc... You don't see the big picture here... We all know gov had problems with Sirasa (UNP media) & journalists like Lasantha who works for UNP. And both of these was attacked within 10 days... specially near a election... who will mostly benefit from these attacks ? ask your self... LTTE or UNP or Gov. ?

But governmant will surely benefit from this as their fiercest critic among sri lankan journalists, one who exposed their grave corruptions without fear is no more.
On the other hand governamant will not lost even one vote because of these ghastly incidents.( who beleives that these are carriwed out by the govermant...?)
So we cannot consider the governmant being stupid at all even if these were actually carried out by them
