Lawyers in Sri Lanka are to commence an island wide protest campaign from the 11th against the issues faced by the country's judiciary.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) says protests would be carried out by the regional lawyers' associations affiliated to the BASL.
Further action on the issues faced by the judiciary including the impeachment process of the Chief Justice is to be discussed at the general meeting of the BASL scheduled for the 14th.
However, the BASL has resolved to carry out an intense protest campaign if an acting Chief Justice appointed. The Association earlier said that its lawyers will not appear before a new chief justice.
