You should say good bye to VB6 though it's time is up and it is very addictive if you keep on developing in it you'll not feel like learning another language or going beyond that!
Java shares the same syntax of C/C++ I'll give out some links that helped me learn C/C++

If u wanna start learning from basics to pro, these are the best books...
Sam's ebooks ( Sam teach u "subject'"in "number" days )
Programmer to Programmer ebooks ( Programmer to Programmer "Subject" )
E Books are hard to manage with for some .. how about interactive sites??
www.codeproject.com is a very cool site.. I don't remember all these sites.. I use google..
are u interested in Mobile Application Developing.

I too use google. But for these beginners they just want the basics first then they can learn themselves. If the basics take too long to understand then they'd most probably drop the language..which is common when people try to learn languages like C/C++
Yes I'd like to but not a platform i'd like to develop native apps like for android, linux mobile or symbian![]()
nice.. I use J2ME.. I did the automated alert system of our school..
