Liberation operation continuous; 22 terrorists killed in clashes

Two soldiers suffered injuries due to terror mortar fire. Monitored enemy radio transmission confirmed 4 terrorists killed in during the confrontation. Also, sniper deployed in the same area confirmed shooting down of one LTTE cadre around 4.50 PM.</p><p></p><p>On the North of Vavuniya front, troops of Task Force 2 had four separate confrontations with the terrorists in the Palamoddai area during the daytime. Troops confirmed 3 terrorists were killed and 4 others wounded during these incidents. Also, troops captured 4 military trenches. One soldier suffered injuries due to an IED (improvised explosive device) explosion around 2 PM.</p><p></p><p>Meanwhile, troops of Army 59 division continued their operations in the East of Mullaittivu front along the day in the Andankulama and North of Kiriibbanwewa areas.</p><p></p><p>Troops attacked terror defence line in the Andankulama area during morning hours and captured 18 LTTE bunkers. Monitored enemy radio transmission confirmed 4 terrorists were killed and 6 others wounded in this incident. Also, two soldiers suffered injuries .</p><p></p><p>In two separate confrontations reported in the same general area, troops claimed terrorists were wounded and 3 more were either killed or wounded.</p><p></p><p>In the general area North of Kiriibbanwewa, troops had several confrontations with the terrorists during the daytime and claimed 3 terrorists were killed and 8 others were either killed or wounded.</p><p></p><p>Meanwhile, troops engaged in mine clearing operations in the area removed 132 AP mines and 15 IED in the day's operations.</p><p></p><p>In the Jaffna theatre of battle troops carried out several attacks at LTTE bunkers located in the Muhamalai, Nagarkovil and Kilaly areas during the day. However, the exact damages caused to the enemy in these attacks were not known.
