Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail by posting USD 75,000 bail after a judge downgraded her jewellery theft charge but sentenced her to four months behind bars for violating her probation.
The actress reported to the Lynwood Regional Justice Center in Los Angeles shortly after being taken into custody at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse.She left the jail with members of her entourage having spent four hours processing and filling out paperwork to make arrangements for paying her bail.
Los Angeles Superior Court judge Stephanie Sautner ordered Lohan to serve more than 400 hours of community service, including 300 hours at a women's center.
Lohan is due to stand trial on June 3, after the jewellery charge was reduced to a misdemeanor from a more serious felony, which will cut to one year the maximum time she could spend behind bars if eventually convicted.Once considered among the most promising young actresses in Hollywood, Lohan's movie career has come to a virtual halt.
The former child star has been in and out of rehab, jail and courtrooms multiple times since 2007.
Earlier this week she secured a role in an upcoming film about New York mobster John Gotti. But it was not clear how she would fit filming around possible prolonged spells locked up.
