Sri Lanka's state owned Litro Gas Company has sought permission for an increase of Rs. 150 for a 12.5 kilo domestic LP gas cylinder.

The company has cited the increase of LP gas price in the world market as the reason for the request for the price increase.

Laugfs Gas Company, the private owned second player of the LP gas market of Sri Lanka has also sought an increase of Rs. 200 for 12.5 kilo domestic gas cylinder.

However, the Consumer Affairs Authority, the competitive authority to warrant the price hike has still not come to a decision, sources say.

The gas companies have claimed that the gas prices need to be revised due to the increasing global fuel prices and the recent revision of local fuel prices.
