He recalled the government announced through its first budget under the ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ that special concessions would be extended for the manufacture of motor vehicles using local raw materials. He said companies seeking to manufacture motor vehicles using at least 30 percent local raw materials will be entitled to a licence for the purpose.Yashoda chairman, Yasasiri Kasthuriarachchi said the ambassador motor car is manufactured using over 30% local raw materials and its strength ensures the safety of the user. Moreover, fuel efficiency is 12km per litre and more people could travel in comfort.This is the second factory to assemble motor vehicles under the Ministry of Industrial Development and 100 motor vehicles are manufactured a month. Managing Director of the Motor Vehicle Company Yasasiri Kasthuriarachchi said he hopes to sell 500 motor vehicles a year. He also said that in the future the appearance of this motor vehicle would be improved as necessary.He also said the introduction of this motor vehicle to the country will fill a void left by the former taxis and added parts of the vehicle can be dismantled and assembled very easily even under a tree and as a result the user would never face a spare parts problem.Industrial Development Ministry Secretary W.
