Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge has reportedly refused to confirm former Test captain Hashan Tilakaratne as manager of the Sri Lanka team. When contacted, both Sri Lanka Cricket's Chief Executive Officer Duleep Mendis and Interim Committee Chairman Arjuna Ranatunga said they were yet to be informed of a decision by the minister.
Mr. Tilakaratne too, is unaware of the rejection and is presently in training with the team.
SLC appointed him to the position on July 15th and he attended the official press briefing for the series with India in that capacity.
