The night was warm, the music loud,
My eyes were fogged as if with cloud
But then to my hearts joy and delight
It dawned on me, her beautiful light.
Tresses of raven black had she,
Skin the colour of mahogany.
My soul was consumed with a passionate fire,
My heart filled with burning desire.
Desire of love, not lust I must say
Found me that night some mysterious way.
We danced endlessly from dusk till dawn
Endlessly dreading the hour of morn
When we shall have to part before the sun's first light
but after the moon has taken her flight.
Will we ever meet again? I asked the love of my life
And will you agree to be my wife?
