LTTE organizing sports festival in London!

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a proscribed Terrorist Organization in the United kingdom has through their front organizations, the British Tamil Forum (BTF) and Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO) have organized yet another sports events to glorify suicide cadres and to raise funds under the guise of a "Sports Competition" in London.

There have been a series of annual fundraising sports events organized by the LTTE in the UK and other countries across Europe in recent years. This year’s 2008 annual fundraising event will take place on Sunday 29th June 2008, from 8.00am to 8.00pm at the Richardson Evans Playing Field, Roehampton Vale Playing Field, and London, SW15 3PQ.

Accordingly, this sports events, organized in the name of "Valvai Welfare Association" - Valavai normally denotes, a shorten form for Valvetiturai.

In the Sports festival, organizers intend to hold:

* Volley-ball matches - in memory Colonel Kittuu

* Football matches - in memory of Colonel Kumarappa

* Cricket matches (soft ball) - in memory of Colonel Pulenthiran

* Net-Ball competition - in memory of Captain Miller.

It is learnt that this sport festival is to be held to glorify LTTE’s suicide cadres in Britain.

The UK's Metropolitan Police and Anti-Terrorism branch have been unable to ban the LTTE's front organizations from conducting such events in the UK as the events are announced a few days before the event takes place and advertising and marketing of these fundraising events are undertaken by pro-LTTE businesses mainly retailers operating in the UK through the distribution of leaflets and posters on shop front windows.

The UK's Metropolitan Police and Anti-Terrorism Branch have little resources in order to monitor these events whilst being deeply focused on pressing issues relating to the activities of Al-Queda linked Terrorist cells in the UK.

Furthermore, it was only on the other day Sri Lanka President accused Britain of applying double standards to its counter-terrorism policy because a banned Tamil militant group is being allowed to raise money among expatriates in London.
