- Shanmuganathan Ravishankar alias Colonel Charles, the most ruthless militant, who was the Head of Liberation Tigers Military Intelligence

- Along with him killed in the ambush were identified as Lt. Sukanthan (Sivapalan Sreetharan) from Jeyapuram, Lt. Veeramaravan (Pararajasingham Suthan) from Mallaavi and Lt. Kalaa (Sinnaththamby Kangatharan) from Vaddakkachchi.

- Charles was appointed as the Head of newly established Military Intelligence wing in 2004 by the LTTE leader V. Prabakaran.

- The most heinous civilian massacre planned and executed by Charles was the bombing of Central Bank, Colombo in 1996. In this attack, 86 civilians were killed and over 1400 others suffered injuries.

- Charles was also known to have involved in terrorist attacks at Kolonnawa Fuel storage, Kelanithissa Power plant, JOC bomb in Colombo, and assassinations of key political figures and armed forces personnel in the country.
