Sorry was rather a hypothetical phrase used by me to depit the "acceptence" of our faults and easing the Root cause of this whole problem. Ok, read this Back in 1975, there was a wave of communilism in east Asia. Viatnam, Cambodia, Laos etc countires fell right into the hands of hard lined communists (the likes of Wimal and Somawansha) But the only country to survive that wave was "Thailand" The communists had the support of many Univercity educated youth in Thailand and they formed their military bases on the outskirts of the boarder ! Their weapons and training came via the Viatnam boarder. How did the Thailand government survived ? actually it's a long subject, but summerzing on the highlights. 1. The Thailand government didn't arrest ANYONE ! 2. The Government offered an un-conditionaly amnesty to anyone who want to come back to the democratic rule. 3. When a student surrendered to the Army, they were released back to the Univercity without any arrests or harrasments. They were on survailence...but were FREE to live a scarefree life for them selves out of the Communists. 4. The Army was adviced not to SHOOT any communists unless they shot them first and their Army sticked to it. Only less that 10 communists were killed during the whole agenda. 5. Through that time, the goverment built roads to the remortest of hamlest and along with it went a Clink and electricity. The King of Thailand him self has paid for some of the consturction. 6. The suppressed people who supported communism did see that they could gain more benift by being democratic. They can NOW sell their crops to the village market..and health benifits which the communists cannot deliver. So, people became more prosporouse and rejected the crazy communilism. 7. One by one, all communist militants gave up their arms and came back to the democratic civilization. 8. Some of the Communist youth leaders were NOT ARRESTED. They were offered SPECIAL MINISTER POSTS in the Thailand cabinet for their special leadership skills. ------------------------------------------------ That's how Thailand escaped the clutches of Communism. !! Now, take this model and apply to Sri Lanka... can't we do this? Question for you to Ponder over and answer
