M.I.A. seeks Oprah's help on Lankan issue

London, May 9 (ANI): British-born singer M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, has begged US talk show host Oprah Winfrey to help stop the attacks on Sri Lankan Tamils.
The singer, who was born in the UK to Sri Lankan parents, was a child when her father returned to the Asian country to join in the fight for a separate Tamil state there.
The battle between Tamil activists and the Sri Lankan Government has descended into bloody violence, and M.I.A. claims that thousands of civilians are regularly killed in bombing raids.
M.I.A., 31, had met Winfrey at a recent event to honour Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.
Their meeting impressed her so much that she has now taken to her MySpace.com page to ask the media queen for help.
“She (Oprah) squeeeezed my hand so hard, I was convinced she cared. Michelle Obama gave a speech and there was mad secret service in the air so I didn’t get to throw a paper plane at her saying ’stop the bombing of the Tamils in Sri Lanka’,” the Daily Star quoted her as writing.
“I wasn’t sure about my influence but……..if I do have any influence, I wish I could get the media to spotlight this… Oprah can you do something bout these camps pleeeeeeeeeease?” she added. (ANI)

That's not really a good way to come to a conclusion I must say, because not everyone care for you gives you a good squeeze nor whoever gives you a good squeeze totally care about you!

All tamils including MIA is getting owned by their chief, prabakaran. he is using tamil's patriotism to aid himself, to achieve what he wants. once his goals are accomplished, its hard to expect him to be a nice leader, not even for tamils.

gov could be taking the advantage of the situation. thats normal. but as civilians in SL, what is wise to do (what we are forced to do) is to consider advantages in each option and select the best way. we have to consider what we gain from the government as civilians, and how it could be beneficial for us.

if we consider what the gov gains through the situation and if we are going to judge the options through that, we could end up with nothing.

you dont want a taxi driver to be a clean, holy person, all you have to consider is if the taxi is being driven by him to the needed location.

But from what I see Taxi driver is a poor driver...
and he has no idea where he is going...
Journey became very difficult for the majority of the country in past few years while the people who ride with him scrape their plates to make billions for them.
If you aresitting with him he is the best for he makes your life abundant with the help of the treasury.
