Myth #1 - Oil prices could be brought down by the giverment
According to Ravi Karunanayake Govt. taxes each liter of petrol 60 Rs. He want s to reduce this. Now the tax % is arounf 60/150 = 40%. What RK conceals is, during his time also it was aroubnd 40%.
Then the next problem is if Gove. cuts the tax, who's going to pay the salaries of Ceypetco employees? RK is in death silence about this. Then he effectively conceals that 1/2 to 2/3 of country's oil is used for electricity generation. And oil that are sold to Electricity board is virtually tax free. So it's impossible to reduce the price of oil, or otherwise Ceypetco will fall. And that's the very thing Ravindran Karunanayagam (Ravi Karunanayake) wants.
Myth #2 - By reducing jumbo cabinet we can bring down oil prices
If MR bring down the cabinet, can Ranil give a certificate that he'll not defeat the government?
What is cheaper? maintining a 100 minister cabinet or a parliamantary election? Keeping the current cabinet for 5 yeras will cost 1/3 of that of latter
And how comparable is cost of cabinet minsters to that of war? 1:20-50! Reducing the cabinet would not help in the war either way.
Myth #3 - This is the most corrupted government
People have short memories. They have forgotton how corrupted Ranil's givernment was. So were Chandrika's and Premadasa's

Now, Karu is nothing but a failed politician who's hell bent on doing whatever he can to get some power.
As well as politically, he has failed miserably in personal level as well.

Idea is good, but 5% salary increase will take the amount equal to maintain that (jumbo) cabinet. Where are we going to find money?henderson said:I think its better to increase salary of all private and government employees should work better than reducing of fuel prices. So if all work force can be given a 30% or so salary hike it would work fine.

My solution is everybody should work an extra hour until we come out of this war situation. But greedy bastards of SL who only think of their food will oppose this. But it will be a good exercise to differentiate patriotic people from "saphrophytes"

Private sector employees are paid twice to thrice more as government servants per hour, if you are interested to know.henderson said:we always work few extra hours a day (10-11 hours) as private coporate employees so I think people who work for govt. has to do extra work then. And its government resoponsibility to increase salary, if they can find a way to increase fuel prices they should be able to find a way to improve salaries too.

Sheez, man. HONESTLY. Knock your head on the table a few times and read again what you wrote.
Absolute meaningless garbage

Private sector people get a EPF/ETF isn't it?henderson said:of course they do 10-15 times more work than govt. employees so paying them 2-3 times govt. employees is not a big problem. And also they pay all PAYE taxes where govt employees do not pay taxes and they enjoy of a good pension after their office life.
Wal Bada said:Private sector people get a EPF/ETF isn't it?
And with my experiance in health sector I would say, govt. servants in health sector work more than any other private employee. And that's also in the outskitrs of the country. Only Army soldiers work in more remote places in the country.

So in retrospect, WHAT you contradict here is...........the cost of increasing the 4 Million workforce salary UP 30% is the equalent of maintaining 100 Ministers.Wal Bada said:Idea is good, but 5% salary increase will take the amount equal to maintain that (jumbo) cabinet.
