Counsel for Malaka Silva, Jayantha Weerasekara said that the purpose of Malaka Silvas visit to the United States was not higher education.
The Fort magistrates court granted approval for Silva to leave the country on October 10 to November 20, after the lawyers had earlier requested for October 5 to the November 7.
The US embassy yesterday declined to comment the basis on which Malaka Silva the son of Minister Mervyn Silva is to be granted a visa to the United States.
A spokesman for the embassy said that they could not comment on individual Visa issues.
“We can’t discuss individual visa cases. All visa cases are confidential under the immigration and nationality act” he said.
