Leading milk manufacturer Maliban Milk Products Pvt Ltd has been fined for promoting its product saying it has certain qualities without getting proper authorization from the Health Services Director General.
The Additional Anuradhapura magistrate, Chandima Edirimanna today ordered a fine of Rs 7500 on Maliban milk products for promoting the Maliban milk product, One plus saying it contains qualities which are suitable for children.
The magistrate further ordered the eighth respondent to the case, a hotel owner from Trincomalee who had sold this product to be present before the court on November 26. The board of directors of Maliban Milk Products Pvt Ltd have been named as the respondents to the case.
The case was filed by the Mihintale health officials office, Public Health Inspector Prageeth Jaliya Jayathilake to the Anuradhapura magistrate court.
