Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga is one of only 12 players to be retained by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises ahead of the player auction for season four of the IPL, which is expected to take place between January 8 and 9 next year.
Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, Virender Sehwag, Shane Watson, MS Dhoni, Albie Morkel, Kieron Pollard, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, M Vijay, Virat Kohli and Lasith Malinga are the only players to be retained by the five IPL franchises, while all others have been released to be auctioned.
